Health Consideration
Health facilities, hygiene and disease risk vary worldwide. The area of traveling through is safe and is not affected by any kind of health hazard. There are no statutory requirements unless you are arriving from an area designated as infected by cholera or yellow fever.
We recommend vaccinations against polio, typhoid, tetanus, and hepatitis A. Please consult your doctor or vaccination center for up to date information. Though malaria is not endemic in the Kathmandu valley and mountain and hilly region, it is advisable to take malaria prophylaxis if you are passing through India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. A combination of Paludrine (Proguanil) and Chloroquine is recommended for this part of South Asia. Sleeping tablets are very dangerous at high altitude as it depresses your respiratory system.

Money Requirements for the expedition and Treks
Take about Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 or more if you intend to buy a lot of souvenirs or drink beer. The money you take on trek needs to be in fairly small denominations because many of the village shops will not have large amounts of change. You should take one, two, five, ten, twenty, twenty-five, fifty and one hundred rupees notes. Give Rs. 1000 to Rs. 1,500 for tips at the end of the trek to trek leaders to divide equally among them.
Accommodation
It all depends on the client’s requirements. However, we patronize 3-4 star standard Hotels, in Kathmandu for our clients as these hotels are conveniently located in the center of the popular Thamel district. Outside Kathmandu, clients are made to stay in teahouse and camp as required.

Being an established agency in the adventure world, we are well known for its innovative ideas, reliability, and value for money. Meals on Expeditions and Treks:
The foodservice and variety of meals on our Trekking and Mountaineering Expeditions are all prepared in very high quality and healthy manner. We balance nutritious, hygienic and delicious food choices for all our trips with many menu options, as per the Cook’s ration.
Our menu options depend largely on the travel destination, as per your choice of trips with Sherpa Mountaineering. Normally our excellent food service, which we carry for our trips, has three sets of meals; Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. We include morning “wake up” tea or hot coffee, and biscuits. We also offer afternoon tea as well. Dining on our trekking trips is supported by a separate kitchen unit includes a Head Cook, 2nd Cook (in more than a minimum 15 pax) Kitchen Staff, along with the necessary number of Guides and Porters.
As a point, our food service will normally vary daily, because we do not want our clients with Sherpa Mountaineering to become bored with a repetitive menu. We try our best to accommodate our client’s food tastes and aim to please. Most of our food supplies are carried from Kathmandu and are of the most excellent quality. We buy also fresh vegetable fruit in the local area for local income generate.
We are very conscientious about food hygiene, and general cleanliness. Therefore, we are meticulous about the overall condition of our food storage, and the quality of selected food products when they are being purchased. All of our Nepal Treks food services start with a healthy, hearty breakfast, then continue with a nutritious lunch, and are always topped with a delicious Dinner. Our kitchen team is experienced, well prepared and very creative. We are proud that our food service standards are the very highest in Nepal, and we delight in serving you our delicious customized meals. You may be totally amazed at what our talented kitchen team can whip up!
Pack Lunch and Snacks:
If an expedition member is aware that he has a particularly big appetite, he should plan to carry a few extra snacks. Some good choices are; Mars Bars, Energy/Protein Bars or Biscuits, to keep him going until lunch is ready. Often in Expeditions and Trekking, generally the timing for Lunch depends upon locating an appropriate spot, which has clean water and a place to cook the meals. This process can take up to 3-4 hrs. after Breakfast because we will be planning for a hot cooked Lunch. During the time between Breakfast and Lunch, you may choose to use your snacks until Lunch is ready.
Nights in a hotel:
We are very careful in choosing the right types of Hotels in Kathmandu or Lodge on route trekking by offering the best possible qualities during your adventure journey or when trekking itself. Please note that the standard of accommodation in each place may vary from one lodge to another. Thus, trekking in Nepal in a “lodge” (a typical local inn) which has minimum western facilities due to altitude and harsh terrain, but lower some lodge are better than the higher ones due to high elevation and extremely cold conditions, however all these lodges are neat and hygienic and cozy with good food menus and friendly service.
Tea House Trekking:
Most of the Lodge on trekking routes such as Annapurna-Everest Langtang, Helambu, and Manasalu region has simple but comfortable rooms due to high terrain and cold temperature to accommodate in attach bathroom would be disastrous as the plumbing system will be hard to function in this type of high country and harsh climate, most of the lodge on route are limited, so we try to adjust all our clients on twin sharing basis in rooms with two separate beds in one room whatever the region most of the lodge rooms offers excellent views of the mountains and landscapes, most of our trip in lodge treks are of common bathrooms basis in places for extra charge is added especially in hot showers please let the owners know about this. The Dining is warm with potbellied stoves fed by yak and cow dung fuels we do not allow firewood as we are with the ecosystem and discourage wood-burning and deforestation. Some lodge might have solar energy to keep the place warm and to recharge the battery if required. On lodge trekking, it minimizes the staff such as kitchen crews, and porters to carry the food and camping equipment. On Lodge trek, there will be minimum staff and porters to cater to your needs.
Tent nights – Camping:
On Camping, we provide the very best quality tents offering a tent each for twin sharing unless booked for a single supplement in advance at extra cost. The tents allocation on camping will be the same partner as in the hotel rooms in Kathmandu on arrival before the trip departure. Along with a tent, we provide good comfortable mats with extra tarpaulin so you won’t get wet in bad weather conditions. People, if they carry their own thermal mats for extra comfort, can do so.
High camp experience:
As for new climber or trekkers and adventurer high camp will be a real experience camping in absolute wilderness, however, the day will be busy in high camp with a lot of mountaineering work. Normally it is always best to reach the high camp before noon this allows for acclimatization with enough time for cooking and for necessary recovery from the high pressure and altitude. Setting high camp is exhausting normally even the simple task becomes difficult with the increase in altitude and makes strenuous. But to be in good physical and mentally fresh is to have enough plenty of fluids well-cooked food with enough nutrition.
Important in high camp:
In all high elevation, it is a rule and must that each member should consume a lot of fluids such as water, soups, and tea, drinking plenty of fluids at high altitudes is extremely important, even though you have not sweated. A good balance fluid intake is very important and to maintain your good physical conditions.
Food and High Altitude Dining:
Rest and little exercise are the main good acclimatization at high camp especially above 5,500m to 6,000 meters the food prepared won’t be exactly tasty as in the lower altitude due to high pressure and taking time on boiling water temperature as it takes longer than lower elevation, this is when your instant food supply is handy from here onwards till the summit bid, high proteins and carbohydrates food are necessary and intake of fluids to keep you physically fit is very important.
Stander of Expedition Base Camp:
In Base Camp, the organization provides for each person each sleeping tent (North Face stander). Also, the organization setup insulates 2 layers dining tent, ground carpet, Heater, Solar lights, battery charger, tables and chairs, communication tent, store tent, shower tent, toilet tent, and kitchen tent.
Equipment and Gear:
Very important how you prepare for the extreme weather conditions take all necessary gear with you, when intents place your equipment and dress carefully so it won’t be a mess in the morning, as in high altitude putting clothes is a hard job, sometime zipper does not work due to cold. Place your inner clothing warm and dry beside you when going to sleep and keep your battery warm for the camera as well. Morning for the next high camp or for summit bid keep the oxygen bottle handy before going to sleep. Socks and boots should be easy to put not frozen this is done in the night timekeeping in the safe and dry spot. Wear your dress accordingly as the temperature allows and keep your necessary items handy always. When sharing a tent with fellow members can be confusing when there’s not much space in the tents so be prepared to keep your gears safe and handy as much as possible to save the energy.
Summit day
For the final summit bid lighter the better for the last push or haul, a light backpack is better with all your necessary items in it like water bottle, gloves, bandages, and good chocolate and energy bar extra snow goggles. It is an old saying lighter the better. For the eight thousand meter expedition should have to be compulsory check the mask, regulator oxygen bottle ahead summit day. But it depends on the climbers those who necessary to use.
Your Trekking Day
Most of our trekking involves for 4 to 7 hours of walking every day, depending on trails and altitude with some rest and acclimatization periods. The daily routine begins at around 6 a.m. with bed tea and washing water brought to your tent and rooms. Please get packed promptly so that the Sherpas can start taking down the tents and your baggage, while you are having breakfast. Take your day pack with you to breakfast. The morning walk will be about 3 hours and there is no need to hurry. The lunch stop lasts about 1 to 2 hours and is a good time to do your laundry and write your diary etc. Then walk for another 2 to 3 hours to our evening stop.
Tea and biscuits await you and a few hours later dinner and evening reading, cards, drinking,
Etc.
Expedition mountaineering generally:
Each expedition is led by our professional mountaineering guides who have led high altitude and climbing for more than two decades, all our climbing staff is well equipped with the necessary gear for this type of job.
Hazard Statement:
All our programs and itineraries are well planned in advance we try to keep our program as per the itinerary as much as we can, however sometimes due to bad weather conditions it needs a little adjustment, if there’s a danger and too risky when we have to abandon the climb and just wait for the clear nice weather and turning back to base camp.
Despite all our mountaineering and trekking itineraries in high altitude, we always keep the top priority of our clients safety if there’s too much danger due to avalanche and snow strum we will plan and decide at the base camp what is necessary plan to be taken and keep you well informed of next steps.
Note summit aims:
As well planned with necessary gear stored in each high camp for the summit attempt a final ascent to the summit will be decided from the base camp as per the weather conditions and change of route if it occurs due to snow-slide and avalanche movement this all be taken care before the final climb to the summit and for the high altitude trekking as well.
Philosophy:
As all the mountains are the abode of local holy spirit and god and goddesses in Hindu and as well in Buddhism religion and traditions so to keep the local philosophy and culture intact when climbing the mountains and crossing some high passes, all climbers pray in the local monastery and takes the blessing of the high priest and monks before heading to the desired point and praying at the base camp to respect the local mountain spirit and keeping in mind with the local philosophy, this help all the climbers spiritually and mentally before starting the final attempt this will help to keep the mind fresh and positive from upcoming hazard and to make this trip a successful one.

All our expeditions are well prepared and perfectly planned with acclimatization days in the program. Non-disposal west Martials we bring back to Kathmandu for making the handicraft some organization to give priority for the environment as well the local product to sells in the national and international market
International flight Luggage:
Flight baggage and luggage is better to declare on port of arrival, 20-25 kg are allowed in international flight, the extra weights have to be borne by the clients itself, in domestic flights 20 kgs is the limit without weighing the hand baggage assuming as 5 kgs, whatever the weight in domestic flight it is better to put your heavy boots and down jackets on flight to minimize the load in bigger baggage. Rest of the heavy gear in the luggage when weighing if it comes to above 20 kgs this should be at extra cost as per the airline rules and should be paid on checking, rest of the minor problem on weights will be taken care by Sherpa Mountaineering to keep the good service as usual.
