Sherpa Mountaineering since decades of trekking and mountaineering expeditions and adrenaline adventure to other cultural trips, beside our varied trips and expeditions in and around the Himalaya region, we organize Helicopter service for quick tour and sightseeing of the high Himalayan mountains ranging from Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Ganesh / Langtang and Jugal Himal range including Mt. Everest and other chain of mountains.
We have excellent relations with all Helicopter companies in Nepal for prompt and efficient services and at beck and call.
Besides pleasure and joy ride for mountain views, we arrange for cargo lift in major expeditions and as well for immediate emergency rescue evacuation also.
We organize helicopter service for a joy ride for an hour or more in the following destinations.
Kathmandu Valley Panorama (30 mins to an hour ride):
An interesting way to view the Kathmandu city and its valley from high 4000 to 5000 meters above with rolling green hills that surrounds the valley along with a great chain of central and eastern Himalayan Mountains from Manaslu, Ganesh, Langtang to Jugal Himal and as far to Gaurishankar and Mt. Everest in the eastern horizon.
Langtang / Ganesh Himal Panorama (Duration 1-2 hrs):
Just 32 k.m. aeronautical distance from North of Kathmandu valley with an area of 1,710 sq.Km. Situated in the Central Himalaya, Langtang is the nearest park from Kathmandu. The area extends from north of Kathmandu to the Nepal – China (Tibet) border. Flying into Langtang National Park encloses the catchments of two major river systems one draining west into the Trisuli River and the other east to the Sun Kosi river.
Magnificent Langtang Valley Heli flight offers magnificent grandeur views of Annapurna I (8,091m / 26,545ft) Annapurna South (7,219m-23,693ft), 08th highest Mt. Manaslu at 8,163 m, Ganesh Himal (7,405 m) Langtang Lirung (7,234 m) Ghengu Liru(Langtang II 6571m / 21,560ft), Kimshun (6,745m/22,137ft) and Shalbachum(6,918m / 22,699ft) to the south, the Chimsedang Lekh forms a ridge of peaks which includes Naya-Kanga (5,846m) and Gangchempo, Tilman’s beautiful Fluted Peak. Beyond it extends to the Jugal Himal, terminating in Dorje Lakpa (6,980m/22,929ft). To the east the upper meadows of the Langtang end in a massive mountain wall, forming the frontier with the world’s last 14th highest Mt. Shishapangma (8,013 m / 26,289 ft) in Tibet.
Magnificent Langtang Valley Heli Flight starts and concludes from Kathmandu covering Syabrubesi, Dhunche, headquarter and the main town of Rasuwa district and Langtang area of Kyanjin 3,749 meters.
Annapurna Region (From Pokhara duration 1-2 hours)
While in picturesque Pokhara with its scenic lake where the mountain reflects in its pristine Phewa Lake, we organize an hour or more Heli tour to Annapurna Base Camp with overwhelming panorama views of Annapurna I (8,091m / 26,545ft) Annapurna South (7,219m-23,693ft), Gangapurna (7,455m-24,457ft) and Annapurna III (7,555m-24,787ft). Annapurna Sanctuary & Base Camp extending to Mt. Machhapuchhre ‘Fish-Tail’ 6,997 m and beyond east worlds 8th highest Mt. Manaslu 8,163 m.
A short stop at Annapurna base camp 4,095 m for refreshment with mountain views and then fly back to Pokhara after an amazing panoramic flight.
Everest Region (2-3 hrs duration):
Early morning depart to Kathmandu domestic airport for awesome and breathtaking flight to Mt. Everest area, with overwhelming panorama of mountain views against the rolling green hills dotted with farm villages, the first stop at Lukla 2,820 m for refreshment and break and then fly over Namche Bazaar and then to Tengboche at 3,867 m with views of Mt. Everest and the then fly close to Everest Base Camp with Mt. Everest at the closest of few 3 k.m. distance, during the flight views of Everest (8,848m / 29, 028ft) Lhotse (8,516 m-24,940 ft), Nuptse (7,855m-25,772 ft) Lho – La or Khumbutse peak (6,036 m – 19,992ft) Lingtren (6,749 m / 22,142 ft) Chnagtse ( 7,583 m / 25,230 ft) Pumori (7,161 m / 25,772 ft) Ama Dablam ( 6,812 m / 22,480 ft) Kangtenga (6,782 m / 22, 380 ft) Tharmarserku ( 6,623 m / 21, 855 ft) Kwangde (6,011 m / 19,837 ft) Kusum Khanguru (6,373 m / 21,030 ft) holy peak of Khumbi-la (5,761 m / 19,012 ft) and as far world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu (8,463 m / 27, 766 ft) with trekking peaks Island Peak / Imjatse (6,160 m / 20,328ft) Lobuje Peak (6,119 m / 20,192 ft) Pokhalde ( 5,806 m / 19,159 ft) and many other adjoin smaller unnamed peaks. After a marvelous stunning flight of few hours return back to Kathmandu and back to respective hotels.
Beside scenic and leisure flights we organize rescue operations by Helicopter for emergency purposes and immediate evacuation also, where all victims and trekkers and climbers must have medical / travel insurance for Helicopter evacuations.
Helicopters that we operate:
There are two types of helicopters currently operating in the private sector: AS 350 B series of helicopters which are manufactured by Euro copter, France and are very popular all over the world. It is regarded as one of the most versatile helicopters and is suitable for mountain flying and all types of helicopter missions.

- It can fly up to an altitude of 18,000 feet or over 5,500 m.
Another helicopter is the powerful Russian made MI-17. This is a big bird, capable of transporting 22 passengers or four tons of cargo. MI-17’s can reach altitudes well in excess of 5.000 m and have been known to land at Everest Base Camp. They offer excellent utility and reliability under extreme conditions. These helicopters are usually charter for bigger groups or large cargo.
